Is it time for me to outsource?

When you’re a business owner it can be hard to delegate. It can also be difficult to trust someone else when you have been the sole person in charge of making sure your business is a success. However, you can’t do everything, you may think you can but eventually things will get on top of you, stress levels will increase and the last thing you want to happen is for the standards you have implemented to slip.

I know from experience, the stress you can be under when working alone. As a business owner myself, I didn’t want to let go of anything and risk everything I had built being left in the hands of someone else, but I did know I couldn’t grow my business without delegating some of the work. Outsourcing is the best first option in your business if you can’t necessarily afford to employ someone.

What can I outsource?

One of the easiest tasks to outsource is your bookkeeping. You may not be an expert when it comes to your finances and expenses, knowing what you can and can’t claim for and keeping on top of all of those receipts! Bookkeeping can be easy to manage when you first start off in business but it can easily get out of hand and hard to control. Having an expert step in to manage your accounts means you can spend time on what you do best and what you enjoy. You can concentrate on doing the tasks which generate money for your business instead.

It’s not only your bookkeeping which you can outsource, there’s many things that can be outsourced to freelancers, such as your admin, graphic design, social media, website content and blogs. The list is endless and you will be surprised at how much difference it can make to your business having an extra team member around.

Outsource the bits you don’t enjoy

As much as it’s a great thing to outsource some of the work, especially the bits you don’t necessarily enjoy, it’s important that you find the right person you can trust. I advise going off recommendations, whether that be from someone you know or doing some research into the people or businesses you are considering working with. It’s not essential that you meet in person and it may not be necessary for them to be local to you. Now that so many people are working virtually they can be located anywhere. Just make sure you have a zoom meeting or similar so that you can meet each other face to face, this will help you decide if you’re going to be able to trust this person. It’s also important that you get on with one another and that communication flows well.

If you’re considering outsourcing your bookkeeping please get in touch. We would love to support your business during its first steps to growth.
